Barry Salzberg
Chief Executive Officer
Deloitte LLP

U.S. Chamber of Commerce
1615 H Street NW
Washington, DC
November 12, 2008

On November 12th, the National Chamber Foundation hosted a CEO Leadership Series Luncheon featuring Barry Salzberg, Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte, LLP. Mr. Salzberg discussed the importance of promoting advanced education to ensure a competitive U.S. workforce and economy and what role, if any, should U.S. business have in this charge.

In these times of economic turmoil, ensuring a competitive U.S. workforce has never been so important. There is a significant connection between the performance of the educational system and the economy. If the U.S. educational system is underperforming, then a reasonable conclusion is that the U.S. economy could be even stronger.

Barry Salzberg was elected as Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte LLP in June 2007, after serving as the U.S. Managing Partner from 2003 to 2007. He also is a member of Deloitte’s U.S. Board of Directors, the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Global Executive Committee, and the DTT Global Board of Directors.

Barry Salzberg is known in the marketplace for his commitment to building opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders and fostering diversity within the workplace. Barry serves as a board member of College Summit, Vanderbilt University Owen School of Management, the Jackie Robinson Foundation, and the Johnetta B. Cole Global Diversity & Inclusion Institute at Bennett College for Women. He is also the Chair of the Capital Steering Committee for the YMCA of Greater New York.
